can you believe it's already here!?

That's right....band camp officially started today! Day one...check! This is so exciting, and literally I am soo happy to start learning our show! This is also a very serious time as well because we need to really be working hard.  Please, please, please make sure that you are bringing lots and lots of water as well as sunscreen/sunblock.  It is going to be very hot, and yes I know we have never really had camp outside yet but it's coming.  Get ready to spend some mornings out in the hot sun which makes it even more important to be prepared! We do not want anybody getting dehydrating and passing out on us.  Another thing is make sure you are eating enough food.  Like Brandon said today, not every one is a breakfast person, I'm not a total breakfast person, but for the weeks that you are at camp it is essential for you to eat breakfast because it is going to give you the calories you need to get through morning block.  Super important.

On a more depressing note, we all know that the DCI show to Atlanta was cancelled.  I am super upset about it because I always really look forward to this trip, but that doesn't mean that you still cannot experience DCI.  Watch youtube!! For some of you i'm sure you don't know what DCI is...well it's basically professional marching band and they do crazy stuff from colorguards being so clean you could cry to drummers drumming upside down.  It is ridiculous! There are DCI videos all over the place, and by watching them you will get to see exactly what we are going for this season.  This is marching band at its best and we want to look like them, so in order for you to not have to go scour the internet to find one, here is one that you should watch (: and I encourage you to watch many more!!

guard camp, guard camp!

Hello all!
Our next guard camp is THIS WEEK! Ahhhhh! Yepp, camp will begin again on Tuesday July 10th and go until Thursday July 12th from 9am- 4pm. This is the last camp before band camp officially starts which means it is super important for everybody to try to be there.  This will be our last chance to cram in a few more things before we really get down to learning our show.  Also this week is going to be HOT HOT HOT, so please start hydrating....right now! Yepp, that means after you read this go drink a glass of water and by a glass I mean multiple glasses! It is essential to be hydrated and to start hydrating before camp even begins.  We don't need anybody getting sick on us....not a good way to start the season.  Well, on that note.  I hope you all are doing wonderfully and I look forward to seeing each of you on Tuesday!!

Music, Music, Yay, Yay, Yay!!

So below is a link to the music for the opener! There are no parts for us to learn of course because well the guard work has not been written yet, but this is just to get an idea of the tempo for how fast our choreography will be.  Grace has been stressing tempo at rehearsal and it's really important to get it in your head, so give this a listen...or two...or three...or like twenty million times because well, it's kinda super awesome! Yepp! Do it, do it, do it!!!

First Mini Camp!!

YAY Flag block!

YAY Rifle Block!

Hey everybody,
So I had originally said that I would be updating this more often and it's going to happen. Starting...now! Anyways, this past week has been a wonderful way to start the season.  We got a lot of work done and I hope everybody is feeling a lot more comfortable with colorguard and all of that loveliness.  I know this also might have been an eye opener for some of you as well.  I cannot stress enough how much of a physical activity guard is, and all of the conditioning that we have done this week is really going to help, but only if you keep up with it...so let's keep up with it! It will make things ten million times easier when we get to band camp and start doing even more of it. yayy! Okay, but really this week has been soooo good! Let's keep up the hard work and motivation throughout the season.  I know that if we do this than we will go far as a guard this season! I am so proud of every single one of you! (:
Reminder: Next mini camp is July 10th-July 12th
